Workplace Readiness Regional Pilot

Overview

Join a network that inspires and supports Australian workplaces to thrive.

Workplaces thrive when they are welcoming and embrace diversity, benefiting from:

  • Increased Productivity. Employees who are welcomed, included and have a sense of belonging are more engaged, motivated and collaborative.
  • Increased Retention. Workplaces that foster inclusivity have lower turnover rates because employees feel valued, can identify opportunities for progression, and are committed to contributing to the organisation’s success.
  • Improved Reputation. Workplaces known for their welcoming culture can enhance their brand, increase customer loyalty and foster positive community relationships.
  • Enhanced Compliance. Promoting a welcoming environment and engaging with a network of like-minded workplaces can ease the burden of navigating and adhering to various regulations.
  • Improved Employee Wellbeing. A welcoming workplace can reduce work-related stress and advance a safe and healthy workforce.

The Workplace Readiness Regional Pilot aims to enhance workforce attraction and retention in the Western Downs and Toowoomba regions by fostering inclusive environments for all stakeholders. Focusing on employer and community readiness, cultural safety, and work visa architecture, the project utilises data-informed analysis and workforce mapping to identify strengths and gaps. Key activities include a Regional Workforce Summit to engage stakeholders and collaborative strategy development.

The initiative emphasises knowledge sharing, partnership development, celebrating success, and establishing standards for cultural diversity and inclusion in workplaces. It seeks to create a network of recognised ‘employers of choice’ and publicly celebrate innovative practices. This project offers partners a valuable opportunity to engage in dialogue, share leading practice, and collaboratively address workforce attraction and retention challenges.

The two-year pilot runs from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2026.
