About Us

The mission of LGBTQ+ Welcoming Communities of Faiths (also known as Welcoming Faiths) is to promote equality and affirmation for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer or Questioning individuals and their families, and to assist those seeking a spiritual home. We also strive to advocate for increased awareness of issues of equality and justice for LGBTQ+ persons.

Welcoming Faiths was formed in 2011 and now includes 23 member congregations in the Merrimack Valley region of Massachusetts representing the Episcopal, Jewish, Lutheran, Unitarian Universalist, United Church of Christ, United Methodist, and Catholic faiths.

We are a totally volunteer organization and hold regular meetings 5 or 6 times per year hosted by our member congregations.  We share best practices, ideas, concerns, support and awareness of pending local issues.  As an organization, we have taken positions on ballot questions and pending legislation in Massachusetts that affect LGBTQ+ individuals and their rights, and hosted events to share information with the public.

Our member congregations encourage active support for LGBTQ+ people and their families, assuring they are welcomed, comfortable, and safe in every aspect of congregational life. We serve as beacons of fairness and loving affirmation in the Merrimack Valley and beyond.
